Dear friends and family,

A couple days ago while I was chatting with my friend Mike Barskey on the phone, Lyman dumped a cooler of ice water over my head. Yesterday I finally got to see Dr. Eppolito, who wrote me a few prescriptions and DXed my ibuprofin prescription. I also got an eye exam, where I learned that my eyeglass prescription is -2.0 for both eyes. I was told that I should get my new glasses in about 2 to 3 weeks. There were only 5 frames to chjoose from, all of which were plastic and ugly. This morning I took the TABE test. I also got my first issue of Recumbent & Tandem Rider Magazine. Some of my older friends were excited to see that issue. My friend Castine is scheduled for release at the end of this month and is planning to buy a delta style recumbent trike.

Hobbycraft was open today. I got permission to order a ukulele kit, 2 guitar kits and some other items from Grizzly.com. Today I worked on making a couple bowls and a couple spoons from cherry. C.O. E. L'ereux, who runs Hobbycraft now, told me that if I submit a request slip, I'll probably get permission to order a recorder (the kind children learn to play in grade school) so that I can reverse engineer it and make some out of hardwoods.

Tuesday and part of Wednesday I took a break from working on the boat seats and took apart a chair from Plymouth State University. Inside the chair I found old food, bugs, 86 cents, a key & a knife. I gave the change, key and knife to my boss. Today I went to sick call at 8:20 because I've had a sore throat for about 2 weeks. A throat culture was done and I was given cough syrup and nasal spray. At 9:20 I had my first piano lesson. I went to work at 10:20, but only worked for 2 hours because I wasn't feeling well and the shop was scheduled to close early anyway.

I walked 3 miles on the 1/4 mile track this morning. On my way back to my block I picked up my new prescription drugs. It took over a week for them to get to me. The meds that Dr. Eppolito prescribed to me are Naproxen 500mg tabs 2x/day and Glucosamine Sulfate 500mg capsules 3x/day. He also cancelled my ibuprofin prescription. These new scrips should save me about $15/month in OTC drug costs through the canteen.

Yesterday morning my friend Richard Castine maxed out after 15 years in prison and was released. My sore throat lozenges ran out and my sore throat got much worse.

My newest prescription is Trazodone. I don't know exactly what type of drug it is, but the doctor said it would help me sleep better. It's a "yellow med," which means that I'm only given one dose at a time and I have to take it in front of an officer. I've only taken it twice, but it doesn't seem to have the effect that was desired and it appears to have some minor negative health side effects.

Today I had my teeth cleaned at the dental office. The dentist said that my teeth were much cleaner than most inmates'. It has been well over a week since Hobbycraft has been open. Around 21:30 a bunch of officers came into our block and told us to lock in before they started searching bunks and rooms. It looked like they searched all of the dayroom bunks and most of the rooms. Fortunately they stopped before getting to my room because they usually make quite a mess during searches, and I really didn't want to reorganize everything again.

This morning I learned that the reason officers searched our block was because someone had smashed an inmate's breathing machine and stole 2 motors from it. I'e been told that inmates steal electric motors to make tattoo guns.

Thursday night I finally got my new glasses. This morning a couple guys on my block left for Concord to start their program, which means that they are about 2 years from their parole dates. I'm finally over my sore throat. I love you all.
